Thousands gathered at Irwin’s Crocoseum at Queensland for a memorial service. An emotional Farewell to Steve. video here (Source BBC News) | A tribute Song by singer Collins Buchanan (Source BBC News)

steve irwin - the croc hunterthe Wild he loved most finally brought the perils for him. WHY it had to be that way? the news struck me like the barbed stringray. the tears rolled down, tried hard to stop them as i was writing this from my quiet cubicle in the office. a few faces turned, little did they know how much i loved this man, how i grew up with awe watching this man relentlessly chasing wild animals and telling us every damn thing abt them literally expalining their body parts from a few feet away. and now, he is gone – the most loved person on earth thesedays, left all of us twitching in pain..

Perhaps, Australia never realised, until this untimely demise, how popular is this man in the other parts of the world. there’s already an analogy drawn with princess Di’s death. to me, that’s unfair to Steve. he’s the real Hero, unlike Di who was more famous for her not-so-decent activities.

Steve Irwin, is for sure, the most loved person on earth in the recent times. people like me could easily strike a warm bond with him instantly sitting and watching him playing with the crocks, thousands of miles away, at some other part of the world. but the physical distance was not enough for this khaki clad simple down-to-earth animal lover from being loved and imitated by millions of children and adults all alike. ohh Steve, i will miss ur smiles, the fearlessness, the honesty and other endless cant-explain-in-words things that made you the only real SAVIOUR in this world of unrest. May God rest your soul in peace and my heart felt condolences to your family. good bye my friend.

I completely agree with you! Tears streamed as I heard the news first thing Sunday morning! I couldn’t believe it and I became so mad that it happened to him that I ran out of the room slamming the door behind me! The story on the news that was on when I turned on the tv was a handicapped man with NO LEGS was beaten robbed and left to die in the night yet this murderer is still alive and well today to do more evil! Yet we have to find a way to except that a GREAT man with so much love to give and so many lives to touch is GONE!!!!! WHERE IS THE JUSTICE??!! I hate it that he is gone forever! I never thought about what if something happened to him! I swear if I had only one wish… it would be to bring Steve Irwin from Heaven back to us on earth.
I LOVE YOU STEVE IRWIN! YOU WERE A GIANT MAN ON THIS SMALL EARTH AND YOU WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTON! I AM SO SORRY FOR THE ANIMALS WHO LOVE YOU AND ARE WAITING TO SEE YOUR SMILING FACE AND HEAR YOUR HAPPY VOICE AND NEVER WILL AGAIN FEEL YOUR WARM TOUCH! I PROMISE TO DO EVERYTHING I CAN TO LIVE IN YOUR MEMORY AND DO AS YOU WOULD DO FOR ANIMALS. THANK YOU STEVE WE MISS YOU SO MUCH.

@Tammy: this man was like an angel, loved and liked by all alike across the world. his love for animals was so intense that you could connect with him anytime, no matter where u were, far far away. Good men never survive for long – that’s the biggest irony. nature has its such strange rule! feel like lost a elder brother.
